LPA for adult daughter with special needs
Hi
my adult daughter has special needs including health conditions, her mental age is about 12y.old and I want to get LPA ( both) but don’t know if I need to do it through a solicitor or myself online since her understanding and decision making is limited, but not nonexistent.
Many thanks

Hi @magb, welcome to the community. If your daughter has the mental capacity to understand what's being put in place, then you don't necessarily need to seek legal advice unless things are particularly complicated.
You can't create an LPA for someone else, so she would need to understand it enough to sign it herself. Scope has some information about it here:
Mencap also have some good guidance and easy-read guides to LPA that might be useful to you:
Some of our members might have some experiences to share too, hopefully they'll be along soon.

Thank you so very much for your reply Rosie. The links you sent me are extremely helpful, I’m trying to find out as much information as possible and see how best to go about it. Your help is much appreciated.
