To replace the key switch on a Greenpower JH500, follow these general steps. Since specific instructions can vary by model, ensure you refer to your user manual if available
Removing Panels on a Greenpower JH500
To remove the panels on a Greenpower JH500, follow these steps carefully. It is important to handle the scooter with care to avoid any damage.
Tools Needed
- Screwdriver (usually Phillips)
- Flat-head screwdriver or prying tool (optional)
Steps to Remove Panels
- Safety First: Ensure the scooter is powered off and unplugged from any charging sources.
- Identify the Panels: Determine which panels you need to remove; typical panels include the battery cover, side panels, and the rear panel.
- Remove Screws:
- Locate and unscrew any visible screws holding the panel in place. These are often situated at the edges or corners.
- Keep the screws in a secure location to prevent loss.
- Use a Prying Tool:
- If the panel is clipped or tightly fitted, gently insert a flat-head screwdriver to pry it open. Be cautious to avoid damaging the panel or the scooter body.
- Careful Detachment:
- Once the screws are removed and clips are loosened, pull the panel away gently. Do not force it, as this could break the clips or the panel itself.
- Repeat as Necessary: For additional panels, repeat the process and ensure all screws and fittings are accounted for.
- Reconnect: After making any necessary repairs or replacements, align the panel back in place and reverse the steps to reattach it securely.
Tips
- Consult the Manual: If available, refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions related to your model.
- Take Photos: During disassembly, taking photos can help during reassembly.
- Be Gentle: Panels can be fragile, so a gentle touch is crucial.
If you need further assistance or specific diagrams, referring to the owner manual can be beneficial. You may find it for purchase or online through resources related to Greenpower products.
Steps to Replace the Key Switch
Tools and Materials Needed
- Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead)
- Replacement key switch
- Wire connectors (if needed)
- Electrical tape
- Multimeter (optional, for testing)
Procedure
- Disconnect Power: Ensure the vehicle is powered off and disconnect the battery for safety.
- Access the Key Switch:
- Remove any panels or covers that may be blocking access to the key switch. This usually requires unscrewing or unclipping the protective casing.
- Remove the Old Switch:
- Unscrew the key switch from its mounting place.
- Carefully disconnect the wires attached to the switch. Note their positions for reinstallation or take a photo to help with reassembly.
- Install the New Switch:
- Connect the wires to the new key switch, ensuring they are connected to the same terminals as noted previously.
- Secure the switch in place by screwing it back in.
- Reassemble the Panels:
- Replace any covers or panels and ensure everything is tightly secured.
- Reconnect Power: Reconnect the battery terminals.
- Test: Turn the key in the new switch to ensure it works properly.
If you experience any issues or if the vehicle does not start, check the wiring connections and consider using a multimeter to test for continuity. If you're unsure, consulting a professional mechanic or the manufacturer for specific guidance is recommended.

Hi, thanks for the reply but it is very generic and probably written by an AI.
It doesn't mention the 2 hidden screws behind the 'bib'. Thats all you need to know, the rest is obvious.0 -
Correct - don't you have the original manual ?

Green power do not sell manuals, even the user guide is deliberately inaccurate so as to discourage people from doing their own maintenance. I spent ages finding those screws. I will write a workshop manual now to help other users…
