Housing issues
Hi everyone
I am new here so l don't know much about it.
Basically l got a disabled daughter with multiple health conditions.
We live in small conuncil flat. Please note l am a lease holder. The property is too small for us. We have tried to apply for bigger housing so far no luck. Just because l have a property council and other organasations refuse to help. If l sell my property l will lose all the discount that l got from council anf solicitors fee.
Has anyone been in my situation? If so can you please help. Many thanks

Hi @Sia2025, I'm sorry no-one was able to answer your question. This isn't something I'm familiar with I'm afraid. Have you managed to find an answer elsewhere?

Hi Rachel,
Thanks for you comment.
Unfortunatley no. It has been very difficult for us. I have not been able to get any help so far.
Thank you again

I'm sorry @Sia2025. It's not something I'm very familiar with so apologies for all the questions. Have you been denied a larger home or are you able to be put on a waiting list? As a leaseholder, does that mean you've bought your council house from them? If you sell the property would you be unable to afford a new one?

Please don't apologise.
We appreciate you comment anyway.
We have already aplied for new property, but so far we haven't heard anything back. It is been 3 month since we have aplied.
We had to borrow money from friends and family to buy this property. So if we decide to sell the property we gonna lose a lot of money. We only bought property recently. If we get rid of the propert we wont have any money, we have to pay the people we own and solicitors fee.
We wish we could get a bigger property.
Thank you

Thanks for answering my questions, I understand a bit better now. Have you contacted the council about your application? They might be able to give you an idea of how long you may need to wait.

I hope you are able to move soon. Just want to check, are both you and your daughter getting the support you need?

Thabk you Rachel.
It is three of us. Well l am not sure. I know there is plenty of support out there. When my daughter was born l did not want anything even there was support. I said there is people out there in more need then us. Now l need support only with housing no one welling to help unfortunatley.
I am still working fulltime even though l am not well myself. Docfors want to find out if l have liver cancer. Waiting for scan and bowel test. So l am forcing myself to go work and make sure my daughter feed, dressed and attend all the apointments.
Thank you

Oh I'm so sorry. Please reach out to get support, there's no shame in it.
Here's some information about getting a Needs Assessment for your daughter - . The website has lots of other information too which could be useful.
Could you speak to your GP to make sure that you're getting the support you need? They'll be able to point you in the right direction.
