PIP paper based assessment.
My partners pip was due for renewal in September this year.
He had the usual text message saying it was due and the form was in the post.
He filled it in and sent it back by 4th January as requested.
Yesterday he got another message saying his review was complete and that he would receive the decision letter within three weeks.
We are stunned that his assessment was done so quickly. ( a few weeks)

I understand that PIP have moved staff from processing new claims to dealing with reviews. It also seems that as part of efforts to deal with reviews more quickly more paper decisions are being made.

Its strange how it varies so much.
It can be such a horrible daunting process.
I had to do mine last year and it took 5 months to go through paper based.
I was awarded the same as I already had but 'ongoing' for ten years this time.
My award wasn't due to expire until this August and I was gob smacked I got ten years 'ongoing'.

I have just been given a 10 year award without a review, only because I have just reached SP age.

I requested a longer award but I never expected to get ten years ongoing.
I'm 62 and its such a relief to have got it but years of worry and repeated reassesments definitely took their toll on me.

My partner received his decision letter today.
His award amount remains the same, standard care, high rate mobility following paper based assessment.
He got it for 2 years which is disappointing as he normally got 3 years and he was hoping for a longer award this time, but he will be 63 next time so hopefully then he may get an ongoing award.

Sorry it wasn't longer @luvpink but least for now, you can put it to the back of your minds for a bit. And like you said, hopefully next time it will be a longer one.

@luvpink Though I said I was going to ask for a longer award and paperbased. Due to fact my needs- help are decades long and my conditions won't improve, I'm 60 this year,But I'm reluctant to ask now as I'm a bit wary they'd think I was "overstepping the mark".
A lady on another forum recently mentioned she was going to do just that,to be shot down by another contributor saying "You cannot ask that" "its not your call"!
So now it has me frightened to ask.

You can ask for a paper based assessment, but ultimately the DWP (if kept in house) or the assessment company decide, and they don't have to agree to your request.
I certainly intend on asking UC for a paper based assessment when I finally have my next WCA.
My PIP renewal is a few years away yet so I've not thought about it.

Yes @Kimi87 I absolutely thought that. I'm glad you've confirmed. My review form is on its way for pip.
On Income based esa I use to get paper based after having 5 f-f assessments,the last 5 at least after that were paper based.
I'm only on uc since November.
I Never knew you could ask for paper based and hope they agree. I am absolutely terrified after last three pip assessments esp the last one.

You absolutely can ask for paper based but its at their discretion if they agree.
I requested it as a reasonable adjustment and they granted it.
