I actually went to a bone cooking factory in somerset owned by Brook bond and even being in farming all my life it was a smell never to forget

I forgot, I still have my dad's glue pots that has to be heated up. That I believe is horses hooves as he use to say. It stinks but does the job.. he was a furniture maker and upholsterer and it certainly stuck the wood

I do sometimes wonder if we have gone backwards in the name of progress my grandkids think I make up stuff we had to do on the farms 50 odd years ago

Some ways I think yes … but other ways, progress especially agriculture/ forestry mechanism is leaps and bounds. When I started in the forestry in the 80's safety gear wasn't compulsory … left leg still got the scars 😁(weirdly never hurt until I looked down …)
9 hours a day on a chainsaw, stacking saw logs by hand (12ft by a mimum of 7 inches) and smaller sizes so light compared to those brutes … definitely added to my woes later on in life
Last week my brother took charge of a £350,000 processor where the only taxing thing is his expanding waist line. It does everything in an hour that 20 men couldn't do … do I wish I hadn't had to work like a dog ? Nope. Thoroughly enjoyed it
Went to Tesco the other day … the total came to £145.80I said I want a second opinion and went to the Self-Checkout.Seems I was right … the new total was £58.60 🤘3 -
As us oldies keep getting told times have changed I enjoyed leaving school at 13 and working very long hours on the farms if I was more mobile and could see properly I would still be doing it at ****

Even £58's expensive for a weekly shop IMO, still cheaper than £145 though.

Who is this "Chris", and were you and he mess mates at sea? 😉

2 -

It depends on dietary requirements, I am considerably more than £58 per week. As the saying goes, disability is an expensive business!

Like when my wife asks … have I lost weight … hiding to nothing that one.
Give an affirmative answer and it's … so you thought I was fat … say no and it's .. so you think I'm fat … I'm not American but pleading the 5th is always best in that situation
