Local housing allowance
As I'm new to UC , do I pay what is not covered by uc, esa used to do that even when it's gone up. And do I let them know once the housing association gets in touch

Hi,
Local Housing Allowance only applies to private rental.
If you rent from a Housing Association then you will get your full rent paid by UC Housing Element.

Oh ok, Do I still need to let them know how much it is? Do I write it in the journal if I do

For social housing rental, a To Do will appear on your Journal the first week of April (for 2026 it is April 1st).
This is how you let them know of your new rent amount.
UC then confirm the amount directly with your landlord.

Thank you for this. I was worrying about what I needed to do when my social housing rent goes up. Now I know I just have to look out for the to do
