Reception volunteering role seems harder

I volunteer once a week on a reception desk. It includes transferring telephone calls. Taking and writing down messages.

Signing vulnerable people to the right organisations answering questions and giving out information. I've got learning disabilities and epilepsy advanced cerebral atrophy and its slowly getting worse as I'm making a lot of mistakes. Having problems even writing down the information as I find it's too quick for me and coming home wiped out. I think its best for me and the place I volunteer to give the role up as its not fair on them. What would your advice be? Thank you.

If your health has got worse and the role now feels like more than you can manage, it is completely understandable to say this, just as you have here. You have already given your time and energy, and I am sure the organisation will value that. If you still want to volunteer, you could ask whether there is a slower, more suitable role, but you must consider your health first.

You’ve clearly given this a lot of thought and tried your best. If the role is tiring you out and becoming too hard, it’s okay to step away. Looking after your health is important.

Thank you for your advice, I've decided after 14 years it's time to step back from volunteering.

That must have been a big decision @BingeWhisker, especially the years you've contributed and volunteered. Will you still be able to pop in and keep in touch with the team?
