What Type of Diet Have People Gone On After A Tia
Hi, this is a strange one. I had a TIA around a year ago. I was rushed into hospital with a TIA. I was seen by three doctors and two of them were stroke consultants and one was the head consultant. I was very scared.
But when I was sent to the TIA clinic around a week later, even though I was so week and tired, I was told by the junior doctor that looking at me I did not have the signs of a TIA.
I left feeling happy and relived. He said he thinks it was just stress, even though the other doctors at A&E said it was 100% a TIA.
But then I saw on my file at my GP that it was a TIA and I told the GP the TIA clinic said it was not. But, because I kept on asking for the TIA to be taken off my health file they spoke with the hospital and the head consultant and in a short version without the language my GP used to describe the mistake made by the junior doctor I was told it was 100% a TIA
So, now I am wondering what type of diet I should go on and where I can get the information on lifestyle changes. To be honest my head is still spinning from all the messing around.

Did you not have a discharge letter from the hospital explaining what had happened and what medication you were to take a copy would of been sent to your doctors as well

Hi @happyman, that all sounds very stressful and confusing! It may be worth making a follow up appointment with your GP to talk about what happens next.
It's probably not a good idea to go on a diet without speaking to your medical team first, they may want to keep an eye on you and monitor any changes to keep you well. They should also be able to refer you onwards for some more investigations or support if you need it.
Hope things start to improve for you soon ☺️

They discharged me due to them making a mistake. In casualty I was told it was a TIA by three consultants and one who was the head of the TIA. But when I went to the TIA clinic, the junior doctor discharged me and said it was just stress. My GP did not agree with them and then took it further where they revealed I did in fact have a TIA. Now I have been put on Asperian. Told to change my diet and that is it to be honest.

That's good that your GP took it further @happyman. I've found some information about eating well after a TIA from the Stroke Association - Your Guide to Eating Well. How are you feeling about it all?
