I hope you are all well. I have a couple of questions but don’t want to just join and take from the group. What is the correct etiquette please ?
Many thanks

Thank you, so I have been out of work for 13 years a mixture of physical health conditions, single parent to 2 autistic children. I am a trained counsellor and have done a couple of hours volunteering a week. I have been offered a very part time job 10 hours a week spread over 2 days term time only. I currently am on uc and have my rent paid. I get lcwra and enhanced pip on both elements. I’m scared of losing all this if I try and work those hours. I’m scared of making the wrong decision and getting in trouble. I would appreciate any advice around this. Many thanks

I'm pretty sure your still allowed to work a limited number of hours on LCWRA aslong as the job doesn't contradict the reason why you are on LCWRA or out of work.

Someone else with better knowledge will let you know soon.

Hi @Halleylou, rubin16 is right. You can work and claim LCWRA at the same time, but it's worth considering whether the work might contradict the reasons that you're claiming LCWRA.

So as a crude example, if you were claiming for severe back pain and they saw you were working in a job doing heavy lifting, that would become a problem.

There's a bit of information here about work and benefits in case that's useful to you: https://www.scope.org.uk/advice-and-support/work-and-claiming-benefits

Best of luck whatever you decide ☺️

thank you, it doesn’t contradict that but I have put my mental health is an issue at times and when it’s bad I can’t leave the house but the job is familiar with an excellent employer who supports and understands my disabilities x

That sounds ideal @Halleylou, having the support in place can make all the difference. I hope you're able to go for it and everything works out well for you ☺️
