Applying for Work
Morning All,
Is anyone else finding it nearly impossible to even achieve an interview in this job market knowing full well that you are more than capable for the role. I even apply under the Disability Schemes available and I am getting no where. Incredibly frustrating

Call me cynical but I've been saying for years that the majority of companies who say "We are a disability confident employer" don't actually mean it, they're just legally obliged to say it under the Equality Act 2010.
I've attended a myriad of interviews over the years, and I've never got the job! Especially in retail where evenings and weekends are pretty much mandatory and for various reasons I can't do either.
One of the worst was in Argos at Meadowhall about 4 years ago, although that was probably my fault for openly challenging them to uphold the Equality Act, which they probably took umbridge to.

It's really tough @RDurkan, I can sympathise. Before coming to Scope I must have applied for hundreds of roles over the years. And despite being really careful to make sure I was hitting all the necessary requirements from the job description, some employers just didn't want to know. The jobs market isn't easy at the moment, but I really hope you find something suitable soon.
Scope have a page with some disability friendly job boards in case that's useful to you:

the job market is the worst it's ever been our entire lives. even non-disabled, highly educated and experienced people are not getting interviews. Moreover, applying for hundreds of jobs is and networking to access internal referrals are now mandatory for getting anywhere.
You're doing nothing wrong. The job market – alongside the application process in general – is completely and irredeemably broken.

I just find it so annoying that they sign to say Disability Confident and don't mean it whatsoever. I've actually managed to get an interview with Siemens who have been phenomenal so far, actually reaching out to see if I need anything and paying attention unlike most others. Even if I don't get the role I'm very impressed with their recruitment process.
