part time work and progression

I work part time due to my disability,I am looking for progression, however, my work will only offer me full time apprenticeships. I have asked that they negotiate with the training providers to as for adjustments to support me to access the course- it has been 4 months and I don’t believe this has been done.

I have sent more flexible apprenticeships- they have not responded despite chasing.

I have asked for part time courses to be paid for by my employer- they tell me they have not got the money to pay for these.

I have asked to explore work experience and informal training options, however, my employer refuse to discuss this.

I have raised a grievance 5 months ago, they have not responded - when I chase they tell me they are speaking to relevant staff. Company policy states 4 weeks for this process.

Any advice/ support welcomed

they clearly don't want to support you. start applying for other roles.

I've been saying for most of the last nearly 16 years that the Equality Act 2010 is a waste of paper because the government don't enforce it and never will, so companies get away with blatant discrimination like this.

I have been applying for other roles, however, I am not being offered interviews. I have no choice but to try and move up here because I need the money and need to feel like I am achieving something

It really is a waste, there are so many ‘loopholes’ that they get away with it. I have found apprenticeships which are flexibile and would be funded but the apprenticeship lead won’t respond to my emails. I have gone to her senior and she’s been prompted to respond, however hasn’t. It’s relentless

but they've already decided they dont want you to progress in the company. The fact you feel you have no choice but to stay in the company makes absolutely no difference to their decision, aside from reinforcing their beliefs its ok to trap you in the same posiiton.

thats why you have to seek employment elsewhere. that's what you actually have no choice in.

the job market is awful for everyone right now, so you not being offered interviews isnt a failure on your part
