Women's History Month
Did you know it’s women’s history month?
I would like to share some history about being a woman in this world:
- Women couldn’t speak in public
- Women were not allowed to show their faces in public
- Women were not allowed to be heard singing or reading aloud, even in their own homes
- Women were not allowed to attend secondary school or university
- Women were only allowed in public with a male chaperone
- Women were only allowed to travel with their husband (or if unmarried a married relative’s) permission
- Women were not allowed to look directly at a men they are not related to by either blood or marriage
- Women were not allowed to be attended to by a male physicians (but can’t become doctors themselves, meaning restricted or zero access to healthcare)
- Women were seen as property to be purchased, sold, beaten and worse
Wait, that’s not history, it is currently happening, in 2026, in this “everyone’s world”. Yes, not here in England, but that does not make the victims any less relevant or any less real. It does not make the issue any less serious or important.
Happy Women’s History month!

For anyone interested, there’s a free online virtual conference that afternoon from 2:00 pm–4:00 pm, hosted by the London Intercultural Centre. It’s open to all women and brings together women leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, and change‑makers from around the world for discussion and learning.
If anyone would like to join, see link below.
