Hello everyone, I’m a mum. I’d like to share with you my family life. My teenage daughter is autistic, she also struggles with her mental health. She spends most of her free time in her bedroom. She has no friends at the moment. She struggles in social situations. She says her autism is a parasite and she wishes she didn’t have it. She hates it when someone is glamorising autism. Her EHCP was out of date and she couldn’t get into college. She’s studying remotely one subject in A levels, she lost opportunity to study second subject due to episode at tuition place and management decided she can’t enter premises anymore nor continue with second subject for her A levels. We’re waiting for council to find elsewhere to provide tuition. At home she struggles to stay positive. Very often having negative thoughts, worries about everything, environment, animals, unethical use of AI. When one problem is solved, another arises. I know she can’t help it and I talk to her about it often and try to bombard her with positive news. Younger sister is autistic and have learning difficulties and is very vocal which exaggerates my older daughter’s negative behaviour and makes her lash out at her. We can’t go on family holiday this year as they can’t be in same space. Any advice would be appreciated and please share your experience. Thank you
