Should I save up for a Mobility Scooter?
Above.
I have an account with the Shopmobility stall in Meadowhall, and have successfully driven a Mobility Scooter a few times, and quite enjoyed it… Thing is my general mobility's always been very limited, especially as I've got older and put weight on, so should I try and get a Scooter?

Yes, but try to prioritise your finances - don't put saving ahead of food and heating.
You can consider a (free) electric wheelchair from NHS - if you qualify - you will need to have an assessment via GP referral.

If you think it will make your day to day activities easier and if it has a positive impact then I don't see any harm in saving up for one @SheffieldMan1976😊

You don't get a 'free' NHS powerchair unless you can't walk at all, only the basic self propelled type.

Wrong :
After an assessment - I was loaned a powerchair by NHS !
Yes - I am unable to walk at all

Wherlchair services told me only last year thst i might wait years from the assessment and it was likely only to be a self propelled wheelchair. I am happy with my Motability lease however, a Q700M, with lift and tilt.

I have a SALSA MINI 2 - again with tilt and lift !
£9000 worth
It saved me the cost of Motability - £67 per week
I even got an uprated battery - 80Ah rather than standard 60Ah
It's ideal for me - I have a small downstairs wetroom - which is only 1.5 metres wide and the wheelchair spins on it's own axis rather than needing to reverse out of the room……

So who actually pays Motability then? Perhaps i was misinformed and am paying a lease for no good reason?

I actually think it must vary for different areas. Anyway, I would only end up saving the money and topping the £6k limit, or blowing it all on things that are bad for my health.
