Returning to College part time on PIP/UC?

I've been trying to get on a computer course at Sheffield College for years but they keep telling me I'm too old because I'm considerably over 25!
Anyway, even if I could go, due to my age I probably wouldn't qualify for funding so could the PIP/UC pay for it as I doubt it'd be cheap depending on the course level etc?
