Hi guys does anyone have this? when i got housed after homelessness i had this frequently like a few times a month for a while (i blamed the neighbour, the door latches, possible birds at window, dodgy pipe) and i realised it was always three loud knock. I havent told doctor as it said to be harmless and i needed help with other things.

I have notice i do occasionally get nausea waking up from sleep and a panic (every so often not weekly but maybe once a month or more) iv had this a while but thought it was because lack of self care (hygiene due to depression) or related to IBS? but after searching exploding head syndrome again i decided to search this as it happened last night and few nights ago i had an exploding head syndrome. Nausea upon waking can be anxiety waking? Im not physically sick and i feel rushed and hot.

Is this common?

Hi @Amazonianup I haven't heard of exploding head syndrome before now. I would definitely recommend speaking to your Doctor about it though - especially if you're feeling nauseous.

Yes, I've experienced exploding head syndrome myself, on the rare occasion as I'm falling asleep I will hear a very loud bang in my head and it'll make me jump. Once when I was waking I heard someone knocking on my bedroom door and on another occasion someone outside of my room shouting 'Hello!?', very real but there was no one there. I think it's probably normal for our minds to play tricks on us while falling asleep or while waking up.

I've experienced this @Amazonianup. It hasn't happened for a couple of years but it was a loud explosion and I 'felt' it in my ears whilst I was asleep. It was definitely very unsettling. Hopefully it will stop just like mine did.
