    @Catherine21

    Its been a better day for me.

    I went to the city here which is very small compared to other cities in this country and there aren't many shops there but its a beautiful place and I actually managed to buy a pair of trousers to fit my petite length legs lol.

    @StarryEyed

    I would love to see the Holy week celebrations but I'm no longer able to travel due to health issues.

    I'm lucky to be living in a beautiful place even though we have such cold wet winters.

    @Catherine21

    Its very quaint and full of charm.

    Lots of little independent shops and cafes and a small market.

    Its set by a river and has cobbled streets, and the Cathedral is beautiful.

    It has a really special laid back vibe.

    You really express yourself really well regardless. You're so real, so tangible. When I'm in a panic attack or severely dissociated or psychotic, I can't write. And even in a healthy state, I can only read and write minimally in Spanish. So it's really weird to have such a wide range of ability in expressing myself. The same range applies to speaking.

    Was this forum the first place you started discussing your health problems?

    Actually I think it's a totally appropriate comment because that's what everyone thinks, including me ever since I first saw the processions 11 years ago. The clothing with hoods with just the eyes showing and the pointed tops do indeed look like the KKK. But if you look into the history of both, the KKK started in 1865, and the processions in Spain started in 1179. I still often find it upsetting, even though I've seen them for 11 years, because I too grew up knowing about the KKK, so it's ingrained in my brain. It's hard to uncouple the horrible significance of the hoods with the KKK. But I hope we never forget. Ever.

    Of course there is nothing on the planet that everyone will enjoy, but in case anyone is interested ..

    At 8 AM UK time, is one of the most anticipated events of holy week, when the Spanish Legion disembarks their ship in the Port of Málaga and marches to a church to move a crucifix to its float beside the church. It's a long ceremony and quite spectacular. When carrying the crucifix, they sing the most famous song of holy week, which is called La Novia de la Muerte. It is so powerful because they are all shouting at the top of their lungs in very deep tones. It's not as powerful on TV as in the open air, of course. This event is attended by top officials.

    By the way, this is not just for Christians. It's very beautiful art and an impressive show of cooperation, which is not always appreciated on TV. All the massive, heavy floats are carried on the shoulders of people for several hours through the streets, taking baby steps in order to get through their journey. People work all year in preparation just for these few hours, knowing if it rains (which it often does), their procession will be cancelled. Anyway, if you want to take a peek, here it is. Again, it starts at 8 AM UK time. (There are no hoods in this one.)

    Angels are a lovely idea. Mother Nature is my favourite artist. 🥰

    Oh and of course I am also sensitive to the atrocities committed by churches worldwide, including the Catholic church. There are so many horrors - past and present. The apologies due are endless.

    Good morning, Catherine. I have those knee jerk responses too. It's so exhausting to try to always hold those in. And sometimes holding them in is a worse response, as the thought festers in the dark. Not healthy. IMHO.
