PIP Appointments??

Hi, posting on behalf of family member.

They applied for PIP in December 2025. Had a face to face assessment come through for 6 February 2026 (very quick I know). But then had a phone call a week later to do another telephone assessment with same assessor as they stated the face-to-face assessment had been audited. They then received a letter 2 weeks ago to state that PIP had all their information and the claim would now be decided. However, they have just received a text message for another telephone assessment, can someone clarify what this is for and why?
To of had the 2 assessments was bad enough but to have 3, it doesn’t make any sense.

Thank you.

    Hi,

It is possible that the assessors work was still not up to standard the second time. (That is what the audit checks).

However, I would recommend contacting the assessment provider now to ask why a third assessment is needed. It could just be an error at their end.

    Thank you for the response.

They have phoned the helpline and they have stated both the Face to Face assessment & telephone assessment have “bounced back” so would need to have another assessment.

Not fair on the claimant, especially with no explanation etc. Unsure why they wouldn’t be able to complete a paper based assessment.
