edited April 2 in Universal Credit (UC)

I filled out and sent back my UC50 form, back in June 2025. Now the DWP put my claim through as a referral and not as a new claim, for which they have apologised for. They said back in November that they would change it from a referral to a new claim. Now I phoned the WCA and they said that on the 9th march UC told WCA to stop my assessment and send all the paperwork back to uc. Now I've just received today that UC are starting my whole process from the start and are asking me to fill out another uc50 form. I asked if it would still be back dated to June 2025 as thats when I originally filled out the uc50 form. They said no it would be class as a new claim is this correct

I would recommend speaking to a trained benefits advisor locally.

It's not correct. UC have obviously made a mistake. It should be backdated to June 2025. And should also be at the higher rate, which you will potentially lose if they start the whole process again after 6th April.

However, as this is a very unusual situation, I'm not sure we can offer much on here. As Kimi says you will be better off with some professional advice on a situation like this.
