PIP & LCWRA
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping for a bit of advice.
I currently receive PIP (enhanced rate for Daily Living and standard rate for Mobility), as well as LCWRA under Universal Credit. I have severe anxiety and agoraphobia (Family member would be dropping of parcels for me due to this).
Crafting is something I really enjoy and helps me manage my mental health. I’ve been thinking about starting to sell some of the things I make, just to help cover the cost of materials.
I’m not looking to run a full business or earn a lot, just a small amount from time to time.
Would this affect my benefits at all? Has anyone been in a similar situation or know how this works?
Thank you in advance for any advice 😊

Hi,
This is still classed as self-employment for UC purposes. You would have to notify UC and declare your earnings at the end of each Assessment Period.
As you have a LCWRA, you get a Work Allowance. That means you can earn up to £427 per AP before any deductions would be made. (Or up to £710 if you don't get any housing costs paid).
Any earnings above the Work Allowance are subject to a deduction of 55p per £1 from UC.
