The Community Energy Advice Service (CDEA) has now closed
Scope’s Community Energy Advice Service (CDEA) came to an end on 31 March.
Our community energy services have supported thousands of disabled people and their families. They have helped people manage rising costs, deal with debt and stay safe at home. This support is still essential.
However, national funding for energy advice and support has reduced significantly across the charity sector. As a result, we are having to reshape how we deliver our support. We regret we can no longer offer face to face advice and support in the community.
This change is not a reflection of the impact or importance of the service, nor of the strong partnerships we’ve built with communities. It is solely due to the wider funding landscape.
Ongoing support from Scope
Although CDEA has closed, we remain committed to supporting disabled people with energy issues.
- Our Helpline will continue to provide advice on benefits, finances and energy.
- Our Disability Energy Support (DES) service will continue to offer expert guidance by phone and online.
- We will keep pushing for long term, fairer energy support for disabled people
Working in communities
We remain committed to working with supporters and allies in local communities. While we will not continue providing energy support, our focus on disability equality has not changed.
