I'm sorry it was hard for you when you were young @SoapySoutar I don't think anyone should have to put up with being shouted at work or being treated unfairly . We should aim at changing these practices, not normalising them. The council house you described sounds rough, and again, I'm sorry to hear that you had to live in a place like that. Sounds like you worked very hard to improve your life.

Things should have gotten easier for young people over the last decades, but instead they got worse. It's almost impossible to get a council house nowadays, one waits for years, even when they are on the priority list. If you are on low income, private rent is not 1/3 of your wages, more like 50-60%. And it keeps rising. I think when you are young and healthy but sit at home instead of working, that shows a deep level of hopelessness. No one chooses to sit around, watching their life go by unless they are depressed, have addiction issues etc. That's not something they chose or can just pull themselves out of without support and a plan. These young people are still a minority though. The majority who are unemployed are either too ill to work or simply can't find a job.

In my Utopia, all shall be equal before the law.

There will be no tax dodging billionaires, actually no billionaires. There is no room for such unrestrained greed here.

All citizens shall have the right to a simple council flat, for which they will owe the state a set number of hours of community work, as per their abilities. In return, they shall receive a state basic income; they are then free to earn what they can in the private sector, or not, that is their choice; do the bare minimum or strive for a more comfortable lifestyle. None will be judged more or less worthy for their choice.

Human nature can never tolerate my Utopian plan, we **** sapiens aren't quite as evolved as we imagine. (The filter dislikes our binomial name).

In my Utopia free stuff for everyone and do whatever you want as long as you don't harm anyone or any animals.

Fair enough, but free stuff has to be paid for at some point. If we were all taking without contributing, that particular Utopia would be a short lived experiment.

This criteria seems very similar to what was introduced a while ago by the previous government, they added a new category which would prevent the maximum 3 year prognosis date, a severe conditions group, I remember 2 of the criteria which was a clinical diagnosis and also an opinion on the WCA it would be a life long problem. I suspect they have just utilised this group for the new upper level support. So Labour saying this group will never be assessed again isnt new, the Tories implemented it.
