    That's a subtle one SwiftFox, I'm pleased it's not my responsibility to fix it!

    IMO one of the key factors somewhat overlooked in that article is the degree to which increases in the cost of housing (etc) have drawn the spending capacity of unemployed people and the employed significantly closer together.

    It's a question of relative wealth, when lots of people are feeling their finances squeezed.

    Perhaps a major war and the associated reduction in populations may be helpful in improving the affordability of housing? However, I appreciate that may read like I'm grasping at straws...
