Mps - email your MP about PIP before the elections
We have a wimdow before the may elections we need to email mps about pip changes ive emailed a few statimg that i have no faith in the timms review and can see this a cost cutting exercise ive asked what thier views on the treatment of disabled people going back decades and the cuts to uc and how many deaths this could case i think its so important to flood them with emails if not we have to accept whatever they throw at us

I agree, but the emails would probably be either binned or ignored, especially from the current government MPs.

Do they ever reply to you? I did email a few on the last round, and not a single one got back to me, except one who said due to parliament regulations they can only listen to their own constituents.

Oh yes i had lots about being constituents but i look upon it as they will see people from all over feel the same plant the seed no not all get back to me even my own mp but i email him and pit title As RESPOND and then i write why dont you respond to my email i keep emailing my thinking is if you thousand of emails saying the same thing it will sink in more they may ignore but im sure the seeds planted and unions calling them out and unison cut half thier funding

I would be surprised if the MPs staff allow their guy to see a fraction of these emails.

Oh well better than sitting there moaning and doing noting

MPs may not always directly see every email sent by their constituents, but they will usually go through the MP's email system to be looked at by other staff. If there's lots of emails on one particular subject it does seem likely that this is noted and passed on in feedback to the MP.
I know from some of Scope's work that email pressure has helped MPs shape their attitudes or responses towards certain issues. So it's not a lost cause to be proactive and email your MP about things that you're concerned about if you have the time and energy to do so ☺️

It is just not realistic to bombard the same MP with emails, all coming from the same constituent. They stop answering, as one of my grown up children has found out.
She now appreciates that a well crafted, detailed email, it beats 100 emails about all and sundry.

Hi all, please try to keep things respectful and civil. I know it can be difficult when you have differences in opinion, but if you are feeling frustrated by something another member has said, please try to move away from the discussion for a while to cool off.
You can also send a report or contact the community team for some support.
The ignore function is here if you need to use it:

Local politicians cannot change or overrule national issues. Writing to your MP now is a waste of time. Plus, they'll use the Timms Review as a shield.

Note from the online community team: As things have been tense on the community this evening, we will be pausing this discussion until a member of the team can be present.
We will review it tomorrow and if we are satisfied the discussion can continue, we will hope to un-pause it.

Morning all. This discussion has been re-opened. Just a friendly reminder to please keep things civil and respectful of one another.

My own experience shows that some MPs genuinely do want to hear from us when we speak up.
When the government first floated the PIP amendments last year (before they were withdrawn at the vote), I contacted my MP because I receive PIP. I also wrote to several ministers, including Keir Starmer, and I received personal letters from all of them acknowledging my concerns.
My MP went further and arranged workshops for constituents so we could discuss the welfare reforms properly. We met six times over four months, and she still replies personally whenever I contact her. She is now organising workshops on the Timms Review so she can take her constituent's views back to Parliament.
It’s important to remember that MPs are there to serve the public. Engaging with them can and does make a real difference. The welfare reform bill was significantly watered down last year after charities and individuals made their concerns known.
I would urge anyone who is able to contact their MP about the PIP review to do so, and if they can’t, to respond to the call for public views. Not every MP will respond in the same way, but that doesn’t mean our voices don’t matter. Some do listen, and change happens when enough people speak up. It is far from a waste of time.

Having Googled who my MP is, I've sent him a longish email just now, I'll let you know if he responds next week.

I agree i remember mps saying they had been flooded with emails regarding pip reforms last year

Thats great yes let us know

It is great if an MP is flooded with emails from concerned constituents, but the effect is greatly lessened, if the flooding comes from only a handful of people. Just like with applying for PIP/ADP, less is often more; concise and straight to the point.

Thank you for the Thread @Catherine21. It is important and I may well contribute to it soon so I hope it is not paused again, or closed, denying me the opportunity to, or silencing what is an important topic.
There's only a few weeks left I know so I'd better get my skates on, metaphorically speaking of course 🫠😊, and health permitting.
My own emails to MPs last year were as long as was needed (so don't you worry Catherine at how much, or little you write, not that you need any lessons from me or anyone) sometimes, more IS actually more, including my 'essays' - we all have different writing/communicating styles...... ..... 'Vive la difference!!'. Let's keep on topic (says she who can go off on a tangent ha ha).
Funny enough, I might even send my letters 'Recorded Delivery' rather than via email - I know they can still skim -read them but at least they can't exactly 'scroll on' although possibly same difference.
Four 'hot water bottles' here too🤣 each covered in fur 🥰😍 And now for the ever elusive sleep 😴 💤 😴 💤.
