Up to date IT (Programming) courses for older students?

++*Way back in the 90s, and also during the Lockdowns a bit more recently, I did in person and online IT courses at College and stuff, obviously because the 90s were almost 40 years ago, some of the certificates/qualifications are well out of date, there's talk of doing updated courses, but I've asked at Sheffield College and because I'm considerably over 16 (I was 50 on Tuesday), they keep telling me I'm too old to qualify for funding for the courses.-

I think we might have some licences/passes for some online courses @SheffieldMan1976. Might be worth reaching out to Learn at Scope | Disability charity Scope UK to ask about it.

I'm specifically interested in video and computer game programming if that helps?

Currently struggling to learn Unreal Engine 5, and Unity 6.

Ahh probably not then. That sounds quite specialist @SheffieldMan1976. That's a shame about funding. I've had a little look on the Gov website and a lot of the grants are for specific things. I'll try and do a bit of digging on other charities that might support.

Indeed, I wouldn't mind but it appears ageism isn't covered under the Equality Act so I couldn't report them for it.

It's simply a matter of triaging resources to those closest to a career in the Subject, that is young people. The days of learning for pleasure at a further education centre are over, i'm afraid.

I imagine the only way would be to self finance.
