Yeah thanks, and it was that windy yesterday I could've possibly flown with the cape lol.

Great pictures @SheffieldMan1976! Did you have a good time? Did you purchase anything? My brother loves the Samaria style swords and the lucky dip bags which were pretty cool.

I particularly liked the Bugs Bunny costume, it should've won the Cosplay competition in the over 16 section.

OMG @SheffieldMan1976 you are such a riot!!! Your costume is a perfect fit. And I find it hard to believe you can't fly with that cape! Two comic books is a great souvenir. Yay for you for letting loose! π€ΈπΌββοΈππΌπππΌ

Well it was definitely windy enough, the cape was flapping in the wind lol.

Yeah I've lost a ton of weight and the costumes fit better than ever.

Good for you @SheffieldMan1976 This week I've started cutting down to lose weight for a family wedding in the middle of May and a big family birthday celebration in August. I'm pretty excited to lose some weight. Since I can't move much anymore, I can only lose weight by cutting back calories. So on the one hand it's harder because that's a lot I have to cut back. But I'm trying to frame it as it's kind of better because I only have to focus on one change. How did you lose your weight?

Training in Taekwondo twice a week helped, but nearly 2 years ago I had to change clubs (and style) for reasons I'd rather not go into, and cut down to just once a week.
Although I'm entering my first competition (in the new style) in June.
And Id've still cut down to once a week even if I was still training at the other place.

That's awesome to be doing taekwondo. Good for you! I took it for a few months back in the 90s when I lived in Toronto, but as much as I loved it, it was too expensive at the time as it was just catching on. I also took a Wen-Do course back then, which is self-defence martial arts designed for women. Actually I just looked it up, and that was developed in Canada. Didn't know.
So I've been thinking about addressing my physical helplessness with my disability as it's also affecting my emotional sense of helplessness. And martial arts is something I've been thinking about, but it would have to be adapted for my disability, which is I can't stand or walk for any significant amount of time. There are a lot of nearby martial arts locations and I've been thinking about popping in to inquire. It's such a thrill and self-esteem boost to be able to defend yourself, isn't it?
When is your competition?

It's not just for self defence, it's a great way of general exercise.
Although when you've had an annoying day it's good to let off some steam in a sparring match where you can beat people up in a safe, legal setting.

Yes @SheffieldMan1976! There are so many reasons to love martial arts!
-Socialising
-Building strength
-Building flexibility
-Goal setting
-Beating people up π
-Getting out of the house
-Losing weight
-Being able to defend yourself
-Building self-discipline
Oh yeah!!!! Love that kind of stuff. Now I'm getting more into the thought. Mmmmmm.....

OMG I'm so excited! Last night I found someone who teaches martial arts adapted to people with disabilities. We're in communication to see if we can do private lessons. Fingers crossed!!!
Thank you for your inspiration, @SheffieldMan1976 πππΌ
