Do you get emotional when watching films? If so what film makes you emotional?

I watched the Barbie movie last night, and I had quite a few tears throughout. Some happy, and some sad. It was the same when I watched John Davidson's movie, "I Swear" not long ago.

I wondered, does anybody else get emotional when watching films? And if so, is there any in particular?

I broke my heart at the end of The Green Mile … cried when they carry the bobsleigh in Cool Runnings and even cried when I thought Diego was dead in Ice Age … too many more to mention

This from a man who never cries at family funerals

Don't watch any that are very sad with animals. I think even Jungle Book is sad from memory.

So many emotional films…. That bit in the original Dumbo where he meets his Mum in the Cage, to the "Baby of Mine" song, still makes me cry like a small child every time… And I still can't watch ET without sobbing my heart out, it's that bit where he "dies" on the Operating table, there's not a dry eye in the House.

In fact most of the old school animated Disney films where the main character's Parent dies or something, so sad.

Same. Lion King when Simba's Dad dies makes me cry.

Another vote for Marley and Me 😭

And The Land Before Time has always got me, every since I first watched it as a child. Even just hearing the music can set me off!

Out of interest, why do people choose to watch emotional films? Isn't life emotional enough already?

Personally I hate it, I never rewatch a film that made me emotional!

I'm definetly getting more emotional with films as I'm getting older. I cry every single time I watch Wicked part 1🤣🤣

But i do tend to avoid films that are known to be overly sad or emotional films too @OverlyAnxious, I much prefer light hearted or comedic films! What about you?

Yes, I prefer light-hearted comedy myself now. Used to like action films but can't tolerate the stress & shock scenes in those any more.

Go for an oldie like "The Song of Bernadette" I guarantee that unless you have a heart of pure granite you'll be blubbing like a baby at the end.
Just reading the plot on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Song_of_Bernadette_%28film%29 gets me going.
