Garlic?

Strange how tastes change as you age.
I always detested any food 'mucked around with' by adding herbs and spices, especially Garlic.
Now I find as I'm cooking from scratch with fresh produce, I'm using them all a lot of the time.
I've been given a suggestion to try Black Garlic…I'd never heard of it so I looked it up, it's supposed to be good for health issues. Here's what I found…
"Black Garlic is made from carefully selected, high-quality raw garlic, aged expertly with just heat and humidity over an extended period. This process transforms it into delicious Black Garlic, perfect for enhancing your culinary creations or enjoying as a healthy snack. It has a completely different flavor profile compared to raw garlic. It offers a much more mellow taste with remarkable complexity and depth. Its unique sweet and savory umami flavor includes tasting notes of molasses, tamarind, caramel, dates, and more".
Thought I'd ask if anyone here has tried it, and what they thought of it before I buy some, after all it's not that cheap.

I've cooked with it before and I couldn't really tell any difference between that and regular garlic but I'm not sure if it was because I was using black garlic paste as opposed to the actual black garlic clove @Rural_lad.

I only started to like coffee and olives in the past 3/4 years or so as I always used to find them way too bitter and strong but now I really enjoy the flavour of both😄 So it does make me wonder how and why our tastes change as we get older!!

I've only ever tried black garlic mayonnaise and like Mary said, it tasted pretty similar to normal garlic to me. I love normal garlic though. Having it roasted is my favourite, when it gets a bit sweet and sticky.

When it says it's a healthy snack, do you just eat the clove on it's own? I've heard some people do that with normal raw garlic for the health benefits, but that's never appealed to me!

I've never heard of it but I will definitely give it a try if I see some as I love garlic. I love adding garlic to the stock when cooking a roast chicken. Garlic and chicken go so well together.
