Messed up a date and now they are wanting me to pay back money I don't owe
I have a message today saying that I have been paid more UC than I should have and they are going to claim it back.
Looking back through my journal I see what I have done and it's 100% my error. The problem starts last September. In this period I made a error with the date I entered when declaring money savings and investments instead of 14/09/25 I put 14/09/23.
(Lets say for example I claimed I had £7000 on 14/09/25) They have now gone back and changed all my past statements from sept 2023-sept 2025 to say that I had had £7000 in my account every month of that period which I wrong.
How do I fix this?

Hi,
You will have to contact UC directly, either through your journal or on the phone, to explain what's happened. They will most likely ask you to provide bank statements as proof now.
This isn't something that you can fix yourself using the online system unfortunately. It needs to be done at their end.
