Was on PIP, moved to ADP, back to PIP

Hi all, I was awarded higher living/mobility PIP in 2022 under a light touch review (10 years). As I was studying in Scotland, they moved my claim to ADP in 2024 where I was given the same award.

I've now finished my degree and hoping to move back to England, but am I right in thinking my previous light touch review etc is all gone? As in, I'll have to start a new claim, new 33 page form, undergo assessment again possibly every three years?

I fought with ADP about being moved from PIP in the first place in 2023 since I was a student, and they naively told me that PIP would be able to take me back when I moved back home without issues.

It feels so disheartening as the assessment process causes me so much physical and emotional stress, but it doesn't seem there's any fixed transition route back to PIP like there was onto ADP. I feel trapped in Scotland as without disability benefit I will not be able to afford to live, and it feels like moving back home shouldn't come with such a risk. Any guidance appreciated.

@Ltennet, there unfortunately is not a fixed transition route back to PIP.

When you move, your ADP should have a 13-week "run-on" period, during which time it is expected you would apply for PIP.

You should start your PIP claim as soon as you move, and while it is a new claim, you can reuse your previous evidence including your ADP and earlier PIP decisions. If your needs haven't changed, make that clear to them.

With regards to the "light touch" aspect: you’re right that this isn’t preserved automatically under PIP. However, that doesn’t mean you’ll definitely be put on short reviews, PIP can still give longer awards where appropriate, but it’s decided case by case.
