He's looking well for his age.

Will he get a letter from the King?

I watched last night about the making of 'Life On Earth' in the 1970s. He is a great favourite of mine.

Tomorrow is the big birthday! I'm wondering what it is that people here like about David Attenborough?

My favourite thing about him is that he embodies my favourite approach to life, as said by Albert Einstein:

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.

I knew he was getting on a bit, but I didn't realise he was turning 100! What a brilliant man. He's been such an advocate for nature all through his life and must have inspired countless others. I love how peaceful he always seems too. Even when he's delivering difficult information, he's so sincere and passionate that you can't help but listen to what he has to say.

That's a lovely quote @StarryEyed, I feel like it really sums him up!

I just noticed if you Google David Attenborough, he has a special overlay today!

Image shows a Google search for David Attenborough. The webpage is overlaid with illustrations of a whale, a gorilla, a crab and some tropical leaves. Text reads Thank you Sir David -100 years

Omg that's such a beautiful tribute by Google! I just tried it. What fun! And what you say about him is so lovely 🥰

In case anyone is interested, his big birthday celebration is held tonight. Here is more info from BBC News ...

If only I could have a birthday party and for Chris Packham to show up!

No seriously, Sir David's work is stunning. We need people to show us all the wonderful things that are out there. Especially as they cannot protect themselves…

I've read the first book in his series of autobiographies and it was a lovely, impressive and also funny read. Set in the 50s about his first gig for the BBC, filming in Asia. It has a very gentle tone of voice, respectful of all creatures - humans included.

Hi @SmellyBin ❤️ You know, that's one of the things I like most about him too, that even though he knows humans are hurting the planet, he remains respectful and gentle - and peaceful like @Rosie_Scope says.

I think he epitomises what it is to be kind and what it is to be a gentleman.

I sadly missed the 100th birthday celebrations for Sir David Attenborough last night but when I see or hear him, I just think he totally epitomises what it is to be humane, with his kindness, compassion, empathy, and his devotion and mercy. I don't think we'll see the likes of him again. An incredible, extraordinary human being and so very worthy of all the accolades.

Hi @Santosha. Oh such tenderness you write with. ❤️

Unfortunately, I don't have iPlayer or BBC One here, so didn't get to watch it either. And there's nothing of any significance on YouTube either, other than the speech by Prince William. There is also a separate video on the day from the palace by King Charles. I'm going to watch them now. Enjoy!

I didn't realise he was as old as that, what a legend. He looks incredible still.

I have my moments @StarryEyed 😉😊. Great you've attached the videos I'll watch them thanks for sharing them here! I'll hopefully get to catch the Royal Albert Hall celebrations on Iplayer, that's a shame you cannot get it where you are.

I've sometimes wondered if King Charles (as Prince Charles) was inspired by Sir David Attenborough; he was ahead of his time with many of his ideas and same with Prince William with his Earthshot environmental initiative and his Dartmoor Landscape vision.

I expect very many have been inspired by Sir David Attenborough. If I could host a dinner party and choose any guests he'd be at the head of my table!
