Hi, my name is Bremay! Feeling overwhelmed
Aspergers
My brorher was 53 when diagnoised with Aspergers. Mental health history since leaving school . Failed jobs until too troubkes to works. Medication sectioning mist of his life. I married late in life always worked but knew i was the round peg in the square hole. I wonder sometimes if i have aspergers traits. Ill leave that for another timre.
When my dad died 91 my brother was actually under s117 at the time. It took about 9 mobths to get him wirb us with carer and mental health in place. Sadly my husband died of cancer im know the main carer. Its been hard very hard. Ive carried it all for 13 years because i love him and on another level u derdtand what its like to not quite fit in.
My brother is 68 now im 73 i have a number of health issues but we plot along. Recently seen his phycatrist and hoping to reduce medication. Why am i writing be because i need people to talk to realise aspergers mental health medication just ageing is overwhèlming for me and wonder how can i carry on when i feel drained and tired all the time. Apolgise for sound so negative.

Hi @Bremay Welcome to the Community. It can be challenging being responsible for someone else, especially as we get older ourselves.
Have you tried talking to your GP about how you are feeling and seeing if they can offer you any help and support?
Any questions you have please ask.
We do have a Section Autism and neurodiversity under Categories that you might be interested in.
Please take care of yourself.

hi @Bremay welcome to scope. I used to be a carer too. There was a blog I read, about the many roles that you end up in, trying to fulfil the needs of the person you are looking after and how you can feel misplaced guilt.
I still struggle with this and it's been more than 7 years. But the feeling of wanting to do more for someone is love not accountability.
Although it's hard it's important to remember the things that you like and love. Gentle look for them and include them in your life and routines. Like finding the cool breeze and leaning into it. Gentle change, gentle relief.
