Help about payments. UC and ESA WCA
hiya, my husband currently gets ESA we don’t get anything for uc as I earn too much, he is waiting for the pip decision as recently been diagnosed with Huntingtons has meant he no longer can work, we have an assessment for WCA next week, if he gets awarded this will his esa payment continue as I read that’s only for 6 months? And then will he get this support payment as a seperate payment if he’s awarded it?
Thanks it’s all so confusing and The uc journal answers are not helping me in anyway

Hi,
If your husband is put into the Support Group for NS ESA, that will then continue indefinitely.
NS ESA is paid every 2 weeks.
It will be deducted in full from your UC payments - if you start getting UC payments due to his drop in earnings.
PIP is completely separate. That gets paid every 4 weeks and is not affected by savings, earnings or the other benefits.

thank you for this I understand completely now, we won’t ever get UC cos I work full time but in the future when I possibly need to become a full time carer then we may. Fingers crossed the assessment goes ok the pip one they never even did one with us they just rang up asked me to confirm something and that was it he said he had everything he needed!
