Do you prefer the city or countryside?

I currently live in the countryside and I can really appreciate the stunning views and slower pace of life. I find the city exciting but I'm not sure if I could cope with how busy it is, but I'd love the choice of things to do and places to eat.

    Countryside. Mountains a few miles a way. Beaches 12 miles the opposite direction, beautiful views inbetween and I still take it for granted

    We'll venture to a city, Liverpool, Wrexham, Cardiff, Swansea a few times a year but I always find it like a zombie apocalypse when you come out of a car park and just hordes of people everywhere. The pace is just too fast for me

    I can feel the tension easing when we get back on the A roads and get closer to home

    The one thing about cities is how friendly the drivers are … someone is always hooting and waving hi 😋( There really should be a non local lane )

    I have lived in the countryside and it was really beautiful.

    I also lived in a City but I found it too overwhelmingly busy with people, traffic jams, smog, noise etc.

    I live in a coastal town now and we are quite literally surrounded by beautiful sea views, little fishing villages and coves.

    The down side is the amount of new housing estates built and no more infrastructure to cope with the increasing population and it does tend to get quite horrendous during the holiday season the amount of tourists visiting.

    @luvpink I have also lived in the city and countryside! There's rams in the countryside so for me that's enough to make countryside better.

    I prefer the countryside - but need amenities within very short distance so moved to suburbia. But can't access amenities or countryside now sadly.

    Used to drive to various countryside spots within just a few minutes, but haven't been able to manage that for the last few years. I do find the monotony of concrete, tarmac and bricks to be derepressing without the escape of proper green spaces now.

    I'm a City bloke, Countryside's nice and all but it's too remote, there's no public transport, and the mobile signal's rubbish.

    I love the idea of living in the countryside, but the practical side of it, access to shops, healthcare, public transport and all the everyday stuff, puts me off.

    I want is somewhere with countryside scenery but city-level convenience. Does a place like that actually exist? 😅

    I used to live in the countryside, live in the city .prefer now the countryside now I'm older. But need reliable bus service which there wasn't.

    Someone took me for a drive along one of the coastal roads today.

    I haven't been there in over a year and the views are really stunning.

    Such a lovely drive out on a Sunday afternoon.

    I find the city is really exciting to visit, the overwhelmingness is beneficial in lots of ways - provided the luxury of it being within your control to leave exists. To me it seems like a catalyst for everything - things don't just happen physically faster, but with so many different kinds of people and opinions and experiences all squished into one place society seems to evolve faster too

    I love driving round London seeing all kinds of people all doing their thing, and wondering how those things - like where they've come from and where they're heading - are totally different… in lots of ways, everyone in the countryside kind of roughly does the same thing

    All that said I'm a country person 😊

    As I hate noise, its the country side. Part of the issue I have become more recently mentally unstable, as due to my physical health I can no longer travel outside of the city for a rest from it all.

    I enjoy the city for a day or two but definitely prefer the country side!

    Sometimes after I get off the train after being in the city, I swear I can physically feel the difference in the air quality😅

    I'm lucky enough to live about a mile from the sea, and also loads of forest and woodland right on my doorstep, and even though i moved here less than 15 years ago, sometimes you do take natural beauty for granted! I've never actually lived in a city as such, but near busy towns, which when i was younger i did like, but now i'd never want to go back to those areas.

    Countryside any day. I live in a tiny village at the north east coast of Scotland. It is much cooler here than in towns and cities, which is what I prefer and need with my neurological issues (have a major time controlling body temperature and heat is NOT my friend). Also, it is much quieter and slower, which is also my thing totally. Yes, you have to travel to get anywhere. Sometimes the mobile drops out, and the bus doesn't even appear between 2 and 4 pm, but cities and towns will kill me in the end. I lived in Aberdeen for a year … never …. again!
