2 months bank statements requested for housing benefit application

Southwark council requests 2 months bank statements for new housing benefit applications. Does this mean 2 months exactly proceeding and including the date of my claim (last 60 days) or does it mean the 2 complete months before the month of my claim? i.e If I apply on May 20th do I send complete statements for each month of March and April or do they need statements from 20 March to 20 May? I hope it's not the latter because I only have paper statements which run from the beginning to the end of each month.

    Hi @Catlover64. I'm not sure exactly how strict they are with it but hopefully someone else will know. If you do need a statement for May, can you download a copy of your statements from your banking app? You should be able to see the transactions you've done for May.

    Hi Rachel- scope, thank you for response but I am elderly and do not have an online account - only paper statements so I wouldn't be able to split it up if they want statement transactions up to the very date I apply. So I hope they mean the last 2 months prior to the month you apply because I would have those.

    Ah I see. Are you able to call them? They could maybe post it out to you? I've tried to find an answer as to how specific they want you to be with dates but I'm struggling to get an answer.

    Thank you - I wish they would be more specific, they just ask for your latest 2 statements but don't specify whether it needs to include the date you are applying and I don't really want to ring them as not only can you not get through but when you do the staff give you wrong information (previous experience 🙈) so was hoping someone here will know or have been that route, maybe someone else will know x

    Hi Catlover, most bank statements are issued retrospectively so you won't be able to include the date you apply.

    The two most recent statements is all they need at this stage. Don't redact anything.
