Revised rent details

I recently received an email from the DWP saying I needed to update my rent details even if they remained the same. I was in hospital at the time, having just had a resection of my bowel, the wound got infected and they had to open the wound up to remove the infection.

I figured though, I should update my rent details as soon as possible, but I did not have my login for my UC while I was in hospital, nor did I have my revised rent details.

There have always been these sanctions if you don't act immediately, so I figured I would try and avoid worrying about it.

I sent a message to my landlord requesting the details I needed and when they got back to me, I phoned the DWP to ask them for my login details so I could update my rent.

The first thing they told me was that I needed to speak to someone about going back to work? I am already in the support group, booked off long term sick, I cannot work had to take early retirement because I cannot work, it clearly states this in my details, but still this person kept insisting that I come in for an interview to go back to work?

I tried not to swear at them, in dreadful pain, I explained to them I was in hospital, having had a resection to remove my cancer and finally got off the phone with them.

Within 20 seconds, my phone rang again and another "person" from the DWP was on the phone wanting to ask me all sorts of questions about my needing to go back to work.

Again, showing tremendous restraint I was polite and did not tell them where to go, or what to do with themselves, but explained I was in hospital and they could come and visit me…if they wanted to pursue this.

This is the new back to work DWP campaign?

Hi @MyHappy256 That is an outrageous way to be treated, when you are in hospital. All it would achieve would be to make you more ill than you already were.

I hope you are beginning to improve and once you are able you manage to advise the DWP of your new rent amounts.

    Please take care of yourself.
