I claim LCWRA, (U.C) and PIP both elements at standard rate, my 17 year old grandson has come to live with me, he is in sixth form at school, can I add him onto my claim?

As a dependant, you should be able to add him to your claim for benefits. I'd suggest contacting DWP to make them aware of the change and to get the ball rolling with adding him on.

Was his father already living with you or is he moving in at the same time? Is he claiming any benefits for your grandson such as child benefit?

yes his father is already living with me, no he doesn’t claim any benefits for himself or his son, at the moment his mother does, but she has moved and my grandson doesn’t want to go,,

If your grandson's dad will be looking after him and providing for him in terms of clothing, food and things like that, he may be seen as the main caregiver for him and it may be worth him claiming instead. But it is possible for grandparents to claim if you're the main caregiver for your grandson and if his dad won't be in a position to care for him.
