Insurance claim
Hello,
Universal credit have given me two days to get details and help with bank statements about my insurance claim for vehicle theft so the money isnt capital its for a new vehicle and now they will suspend payments. I had already done a financial assessment months before and determined 0 savings. I told them all the details at the start of months and have just decided to ask me to provide evidence they know i cant get straight away in two days. I said i have the insurance letter about my stolen vehicle and im in recovery for mental health but they are now suspending my payments knowing i needed help last time to get them and i have given them the police crime reference number and evidence i was unwell. Its recorded last time how hard it was o get bank statements format they wanted etc..
I said i will get them what they want but are suspending my payment but not given me a chance to get the information i need. Literally two days.
My money is now not coming this month and the money would not put me over 16k savings. I declared a payment thats clearly not income. This is why i hate UC and you get people on here defending them they dont cause people to commit suicide tell me they didnt do this on purpose…..UC not responding to my messages but im supposed to get support on the weekend to get the help to get my evidence. Shelter saids they are supposed to give you 2 weeks to get information tell me thats not discrimination.
How can this be legal?

Hi, I’m so sorry for what you’re going through and I hope you get things sorted. It’s an incredibly stressful situation to be in.
The most important thing now is practical action:- Call UC and also Send another journal message immediately explaining:
- You are actively obtaining the documents,
- You need reasonable adjustments due to mental health (if this applies which I am guessing it does)
- You require additional time,
- and suspension risks serious hardship.
- Upload whatever evidence you already have again:
- insurance settlement letter,
- police crime reference,
- screenshots/emails showing attempts to obtain statements.
- Ask for:
- a Mandatory Reconsideration if a formal decision has been made,
- or escalation to a Case Manager
- Contact:
- Citizens Advice
- Shelter
- or a local welfare rights adviser urgently Monday morning again.
- If you have no money for essentials, ask about:
- a hardship payment,
- food bank referral etc

I told them this they have not replied they are still suspending payment on Monday. They want the suspended payment to happen. They still havent written back to confirm dates they want specifically and why and they did not give me the link to upload documents. Im telling you this is on purpose. So even if i got help today to do it i still cant do it.

They now think its okay to ignore my ability to upload documents….whats the point in talking to UC if they actually just make things worse. They push you to break you screw them.
