LCWRA - Going On Holiday

Hi all! Hope your days are going well! 🤗

I'm going to be going on holiday in late June. Will be leaving the country for 9 days to visit a close friend and their family. I've seen conflicting posts and forums about whether or not its necessary to inform UC of this. However, it feels wrong not to and I have raging anxiety as is. I don't want to see myself in any bother for not saying anything.

Will this trigger some sort of reassessment? I've not been on holiday in many, many years and feel this trip away will do me some good. It just makes me feel guilty because I have mental health issues that are pretty debilitating. I just didn't want to spend another summer bed rotting and being cooped inside.

    ^ To add, is me going on holiday to visit a friend a valid reason? This adds to my guilt massively.

    Hi @easybreezypea - & welcome to the forum. Yes, the gov.uk site says you have to inform about leaving the country, but you can in fact leave the UK for any reason for up to 28 days without it affecting your UC claim. As you will have no work commitments there's no problem at all, & it wouldn't cause any re-assessment. I hope you have a really good holiday abroad.
