Hi, my name is Frank1946!

I had my UC stopped in December.

I asked if I was entitled to more money so they stopped by benefits.

I asked politely to make a complaint at least 6 times & they never responded once.

I filled out the complaints form on the DWP website & I’ve heard nothing.

I just want what I’m entitled too

any advice now?

Thanks

I'd recommend contacting your MP for assistance, if you've allowed time to hear back from the formal complaint.

Unfortunately the MPs won't do anything, orders from the DWP come from them in the first place.

MP's can help @SheffieldMan1976 They can chase up why @Frank1946 has never had a reply to his complaint and why his UC was stopped.

I have written to my MP in the past and got favourable responses from both the MP and the DWP.

    Hi Frank,

Do you know why your UC was stopped/closed?

that's a bit weird. they shouldn't stop your UC just because you asked if there was more money you're entitled to.

you're not telling us the whole story.

Yes. I was receiving less than I should’ve been because I had more than the threshold for savings/investments.

I printed off 3 years worth of statements & produced them directly

I had confirmation back from them that I didn’t have over the threshold & I therefore asked them for what I was entitled too

They said the quickest way was to re apply which I have & received a very small amount in April.

I’m simply after a straight answer& if they have been underpaid I would like what I’m owed

instead they shut me down, wouldn’t answer, I can’t complain YET if I miss anything I’m threatened!!!

There is another body you can write to if the DWP do not respond. It’s an independent body I believe

    Hi Frank,

I'm still a bit confused. Your savings are what you declare so keeping DWP up to date is your responsibility. However, if the figure was incorrect and you corrected the savings figure that would usually trigger an underpayment agent to-do. Do you think you may have missed a to-do asking you to confirm capital? Was there an asset in dispute..? I feel like I'm missing part of the story maybe?

I had been through the savings/investment part before

    I explained everything.

from what I can work out & never having been on benefits before I was being deducted money for being above the threshold.

I completely forgot about this so I simply asked a question whether I was entitled to more money after I had spent all of my savings.

No answer, ignored, pass the buck, fail to acknowledge a formal message, no response from DWP either

They have written I do not have over the threshold hence I was asking if I was entitled

if they answered no, then fair enough

Contacted ICE today as DWP didn’t respond either.

    Hi welcome to the community.

    @SheffieldMan1976

Our previous member of parliament and our current one both support benefit claimants with problems they experience.

They are not influenced by the dwp

Hi Frank, reading between the lines it may be that they've decided it's 'deprivation of capital' and so have arrived at a 'notional capital' amount which means you were deemed not entitled.

The DWP complaint would ordinarily advise of the expected turnaround, it's usually around the 14 working days mark so hopefully you do get a reply from them.

Anyway, good luck with a resolution. :-)
