Blue badges.
hello all
I have recently noticed that hospitals in the north west have started asking for you to scan your blue badge when leaving.
so you have to go back to your car, go back to the PlayStation, and then back to the car. Doesn’t this kind of defeat the object kind of?
if there was an app that stored all your blue badge information in would people be interested in using it? I’m not meaning as a replacement but along side the physical badge. So we don’t have to go back to the car.

My local Hospital does the same.. but.. they give you the alternative option: to email in within 24 hours of the visit. Originally, you could register the vehicle’s reg and it was automatically done each visit.

Perhaps, you could take the badge with you to lessen trips?

That's a really good suggestion @athompson. This day and age, there are so many apps, it would be a great help with this type of thing.

Hi @athompson,
I experienced this for the first time last week when I went to visit a friend. I had not been to the car parking area before (not disabled area), so was very confused (neurodiverse) when I read the notice that said Blue Badges were to be displayed at all times in front window of the car and then read that you had to get the Badge swiped before you exit!. It also occurred to me (I believe as you mentioned) that that having to swipe your Blue Badge defeats the purpose of having to walk back to a pay station to swipe the Badge but also means walking further than you need to. My interpretation of the notice was that the Badge had to be displayed at all times but then you have to take it somewhere else to get it swiped! I could not find where I needed to swipe my Badge when leaving and could not find anyone to ask. I did see a notice to say that the barrier was not working and was able to exit the car park but hen worried that I would be stopped or get a ticket through the post. (Hopefully this will not happen).
As everywhere these days is served by CCTV and Number Plate Recognition, surely the Blue Badges are also caught with the electronic surveillance that should negate Blue Badge holders from making extra journeys to and from exit points just to swipe their Blue Badge? I am someone who does not work well with technology so yet another App on my phone would be another 'stress' for me.
