how much is your rent

I saw someone has rent of £1800 a month, mine is £480 a month for a 2 bed house private renting, i know diff areas are diff amounts but its ridiculous rents can be so high

what is yours like? and do you agree that people shouldn't be allowed to own more than one home?

    I live about 40 minutes (in the car) from a big capitol city, a house on my street has just been advertised to rent for £795 a month. It's a 2 up and 2 down. The same house in the city centre would probably be £1700 if not more depending on what part of the city!

    £480 for a house? In my neck of the woods you can't even rent a room for that. The smallest, cheapest bedsits start at £1000.

    The rising inequality is outrageous. Those who own capital can easily buy up all the housing stock and get even richer by charging extortionate rent. While the majority of people can't get their foot on the housing ladder anymore and can barely afford rent. I think it's unacceptable that housing has become an investment opportunity for the rich instead of a place to live. And then they fund parties that push the message that the problem is poor people who get government assistance so that they don't become homeless. The housing benefit payments all end up in the pocket of the wealthy private owners of the properties. It's sickening.

    I used to live in an HA Flat, covered by HB, as I recall, the rent was about £1500 a month, but the HB were always late paying so I was getting it in t' neck off the HA for something that wasn't my fault, as were most of the tenants.

    £600 for a 3 bedroom house … my daughters 2 bedroom flat in Cardiff £1200 before CT and bills, my son's 2 bedroom flat in the same town as me £650 including water

    You pay a premium to live in a city, sadly how the world works ?

    To be fair you'd probably pay the same premium price to live in a 1 floor Bungalow in a little Village in the bum end of nowhere.

    My 1 bedroom council house is less than £90pw, and in a pleasant area.

    Pre-covid mine was around £400 a month. It's not far off double that now. Single person, small flat, reasonable area but no amenities in walking distance.

    To get the bungalow that I desperately need locally would be minimum of £1200 a month now. Much cheaper through Housing Association, but I'm not allowed those due to my age, so private rental would be the only option.
