Council Tax Support
Hello!
I'm moving into a new flat this Sunday and I currently receive council tax support on my current flat. I receive PIP, UC, and LCWRA. I've just declared online to my local council that I'm moving and have given them my new address. Will I need to apply again for council tax support or will it be automatically renewed once I move into my new property? I'm not sure if I need to do anything else right now.
Thank you :)

Hi @LM28 I'm not too sure about this one, hopefully our members will be able to advice based on their experiences. Are you moving to an area with the same council? Personally, I'd contact them even if remaining to ask the question as with it being new council tax paid, they may need to review the circumstances to understand if the reduction has changed.

Hi @Holly_Scope
Yes, I'm moving to an area with the same council.
I've advised them that I'm changing address but assumed it would automatically renew once I did this. I might try and get in contact with them again, but it would be helpful if anyone else had experience of this and could provide more info.
Thank you !

It'll be 20 years in August since I moved to my original HA Flat here in Sheffield, I've moved twice in the last 12 months though.
The place in High Green I moved to around this time last year was awful, almost no proper support to the extent they were leaving me alone in the bath every morning, and don't even get me started on what a safety issue THAT was.
I currently live in a Care Home [removed by moderater] and it's 1000% better.

Council Tax & Council Tax Reduction (Benefits) are separate departments within the local authorities, so both should be updated with your new address.
You shouldn't need to do anything else as CTR will adjust your award based on your new circumstances, and apply changes (if any).
