Baffled by payments

My partner and I claimed uc for a few months last year. Because of an inheritance we closed our claim.

Now the inheritance money has been spent on a disabled bathroom extension we've claimed uc again but the payments are coming in a lot lower than we were getting last year. I can't work out why the payments are so much less ( around £230 less each month).

We were moved onto uc from legacy benefits so we had transitional protection - could this account for the difference? I'm really baffled so tried filling in turn2us but the payments didn't match up there either.

Do you have any copies of previous statements to look at and compare to your new payment statement?

It could well be because you used to receive Transitional Protection, but are not eligible for it on your new claim.

No I don't have copies of the old online statements. It seems such a big difference.

Transitional Protection can be several hundred pounds depending on the legacy benefit circumstances.

Do you feel all the elements that should be on your new award are there?

A local welfare rights organisation could look over your award to make sure it's correct.

That's certainly something worth OP checking on the new UC award - I'd expect LCWRA to be paid at the higher rate as OP's past posts mention New Style ESA and this won't have ended due to the inheritance.
