Mobility car advice needed please

Hi, i have a mobility car, my local dealership closed recently. I've had a recall on the car. However, it's 60 miles away to my nearest car dealership.

I do the school run, there won't be enough time to stay up there, I'm newly taking insulin now, and so fatigued that driving there and back is no option for me.

They can't pick or drop off my car. I can't ask anyone else. I've tried the mobility scheme, who said it's down to me to get this sorted.

It's not my fault that the local dealership has closed down. If i had known this two years ago i would have gone to the next one, different make, 20 miles away.

Can someone advise what i should be doing? I feel like ending the contract and handing the car back.

Personally I'd tell the company to touch grass and end the contract on principle, it's not your fault the dealership went bust, you shouldn't be getting punished for it.

    Hi,

This is a difficult situation but actually it's no-ones fault. The more distant dealership can't be expected to pay staff for 2 hours to collect and return the car 60 miles each way. And Motability just pay for servicing and maintenance, they don't have any obligation to get the car to the dealership on your behalf.

I had a similar situation a few years ago. My car was privately leased because I didn't qualify for Motability. But I couldn't get it to the dealership when the service was due (required for warranty/lease terms) and there was also a recall due on it as well. I took the decision to sell the car at that point, and don't regret doing that at all.

The way I see it you have two options now. One is to hire a car transporter to take the car to the dealership and back for you. You will have to pay for that. And may need to make alternative arrangements for school run that day. The other option is as you say, return the car to Motability and choose a different one instead. I'm just thinking that with the price of the Advance Payments nowadays, it may be cheaper for you to get the car transported once or twice a year rather than changing car early.
