After the collapse of the USSR, Moscow stopped funding the "cultural excesses" of the Newly Independent States, and culture there died out naturally, or rather, returned to its natural state. Besides bus stops, there were theaters and film studios. Now, they are the ruins of their former luxury. For example, after 1991, films and series were made in Ukraine for distribution in Russia, as the standard of living and income of its population did not cover the costs. During the Soviet era, actors, screenwriters, and directors could work simultaneously in Russia, Georgia, and, in general, in a host of different film studios across the country.

Returning to cartoons, there's an opinion I've often come across online that some Estonian and Armenian cartoons during the Soviet era were made under the influence of drugs. And in my opinion, the creators of Torchy the Battery Boy were also abusing drugs.. 😗

IMO most of the best cartoons came out in the 70s and 80s.
The original 1983 version of Masters of the Universe was iconic, and not just because I was in love with the Sorceress of Greyskull, and in the following "Secret of the Sword" movie, I bet Adam/He Man was chuffed when he discovered he had a fit sister lol.

People are probably my greatest interest thanks Rachel. And interesting questions, thanks. Their/our interactions with computers, the interweb and technology is, I suppose, my speciality.
Cognitive and Applied Psychology is my academic background. I was first paid to create websites in 1992 or 3 and in 1996 11 friends from university and I set up the first of two digital marketing agencies we owned until 2007.
Since the mid-90s I've taught the use of computers to people with (and without) most of the disabilities there are, in English and French. Focused mostly on people with learning difficulties and people who are blind.
If animation is something you've enjoyed, have you had the opportunity to explore the Macromedia Flash range of software, or 3D Studio Max? I appreciate they're very expensive but we learned to use them using cracked versions for free. They've got a lot better at protecting their software but I assume such software will be available for free somewhere online and they make producing advert-quality animations fantastically easy. Hugely empowering stuff.
Watching the interweb evolve has been quite a journey. When I first got an interweb connection at home in 1991 the only British-based websites were a few prisons and hospitals. Virtually nothing else, ironically. It was barely used for more than email and there were no adverts anywhere!

Yes @Littlefatfriend people are incredibly fascinating! Do you find yourself psychologically assessing everyone? 😂 I like watching videos on YouTube about different countries and how they plan their towns to meet the needs of the people. The differences between us all is really interesting.
That’s amazing that you were so involved in the internet, creating websites in the early nineties. It must be so interesting to see the differences between then and now. I like the sound of no adverts anywhere!
I haven’t looked at proper animation software. I currently just use Canva to animate music videos for friends and family. I love stopmotion but don’t have the time (or patience) to do it properly but I try to animate so it looks similar in style. I’ll definitely have a look at some software at some point. Have you done any animation?
