A superb documentary from Emma Barnett about an incapacitating condition some women suffer before, during and after menstruation.

I am horrified that 26-year old Chloe is booked to undergo a hysterectomy when there's an effective treatment for endometriosis. I am going to have to recover my account with the Guardian to read the comments. How dare she be left with no other choice and not offered what I got under the NHS?

I met that professor and he discharged me along with six other clinics before finally getting the diagnosis at another London hospital.

Our new Health Secretary is no better than the last with their belief that they know what's best for women on hospital wards. As the consultant said, "Society has normalised pain for women".

Thank you for posting this, Colonel 😓

I couldn't say any more in my reply, for some reason, it kept freezing.

The patriarchy is alive and well in 2026, in some countries more than others; thinking of FGM, wearing a burqa, uninterrupted childbearing, staying indoors without being accompanied by husband or father etc.
