Stopped uc and lcwra

in Universal Credit (UC)

hi our payments has suddenly stopped due to my partner having just over the 16000 in savings (which is long gone )a couple years ago we are new to benefits , and have been struggling a lot I’ve even had to sell my jewellery and him garage stuff for food etc , we have never had a joint bank account and I was clueless, now they have to do a review etc so we have nothing anymore so can’t pay the rent and it’s the first time we cdnt in 4 years , he’s 64 and puts in for about 50 jobs a month to no avail, wat can we do .. how long will this last ? And then wat ? Won’t they just pay me the lcwra element until it’s sorted ? Any advice please x

    Hi Sharron,

    If your UC claim has been closed following a review due to savings then that's current.

    The review looks at the latest assessment period and IF required tracks back.

    Have you spoken to your partner? What I'm trying to say is if UC have closed your claim following a review then the £16,000+ is current.. somewhere.

    hi we should of been paid last Friday and on Thursday our uc said we wd be paid, however on Friday no payment and the payment on uc had disappeared, phoned up they didn’t know why, told they wd look into it and we wd know by the first of June, then nothing told we wd know by 2nd , a message late on was put on the journal saying it was up for review due to capital ? And they cdnt help anymore. This money was spent two years ago , he gave bank statements in few months back , how long can this take and how do we pay our rent etc now,,

    When it’s sorted will we owe them money for any overpayment, also we he gave the statements in he asked if this wd effect our uc and was told no we just might owe money

    Any advice please thanks

    I noticed he was spending more on his days out etc and parcels coming but he wdnt explain all I know is it was more than the 16000 we arnt talking now and may split havnt got a penny and no way of getting any ,, I suffer with fear of leaving the house havnt been out in over a year ,,
