Disability Pride Month is a time to celebrate disabled identity — and to shine a light on the barriers that still exist. This uplifting event brings people together to share stories, celebrate achievements, attend workshops and hear from inspiring speakers.

Will you be invited the mayor?

Don't say this on the invitation, but it would be good to talk to her about her attitude to neurodiversity.

You may recall a year or few back reports of a young autistic girl being dragged screaming from her home by a mob of police officers for the crime of being autistic?

I don't know what happened about that in the finish, but I doubt that it's led to significant reforms.

They actually have a policy whereby if they discover an autistic person they can arrange that all correspondence sent by that person is dealt with by a bigot and essentially binned.

Obviously that is not how the policy is set out, but that is how it operates...

I’d like to be there but it’s far for me. Maybe I can travel up there and stay in a hotel overnight but I will have to see if I can afford it. If I can I’d love to be there and support others and meet people too. I haven’t attended any in-person events and I’d really like to :)
