I watched this the other night. It's my life story, too. "A living death", says one contributor.
It's why I feel so passionately that men cannot just don a costume to become a woman! There is no equivalent for the pain and disadvantage some of us suffer with menstruation for c40 years of our lives.
"Society has normalised pain for women" says the consultant to EB.
Nobody ever believed me, just like all the women interviewed! I had survived two emergency laparotomies aged 9 1/2 but made no connection with them and my painful periods.
Decades later, the diagnostic process involves a laparoscopy which will create scar tissue and adhesions for these women. It will not cure what they are calling a disease but make it worse! One woman had her appendix removed to see if that would help. 26-year old Chloe has been offered a hysterectomy to relieve her pain..
I am angry and dismayed because there IS a treatment and I received it under the NHS - the Zoladex implant.

And at the end we learned that Emma now wants a full hysterectomy, but that is no guarantee she will be free from the pain she endures.
She spoke about the very thing I was contemplating as the programme played out, the centuries of suffering, that just had to be endured by past generations of women.
I sincerely hope that funding is found somehow, as this could potentially affect half of our future population, unlike my muscular dystrophy, which only affects one in tens of thousands.

There is a brilliant welsh rugby player called Gwen Crabbe who has endometriosis and she does a lot of awareness of it on social media.
She recently had to have more surgery for it and vlogged all about it for more awareness. She said that they had found it on her bowel and lung in the past which blew my mind as I (ignorantly) thought it impacted just reproductive organs and organs around in that area.
I agree @ColonelBlink, something needs to drastically be done to help people with condition especially as it is so common.1 -
More than 1.5 million women in the UK live with endometriosis, according to Endometriosis UK.
I'm not pain-free because of my adhesions but there is no comparison with how it was. Perhaps she'll see my post..

I can't disagree with your superhuman statement. Although my ex wife and I have no contact, and can't even be in the same room, I have never forgotten the bravery and fortitude she displayed with a prolonged, difficult labour, twice.
